Hello blogosphere! My name is Laurie, aka G-ma. “G-ma” was my nickname at my last job, where I baked for and coddled my coworkers whenever they were sad or stressed. Apparently, that’s what grandmas do, so the name stuck.
I’m a Central Pennsylvania native and a recent SoCal transplant, and whenever I miss home (and home cookin!) I bake. My grandmother and mother are sultanas of sweet, buttery goodness, and I will share some of their recipes (and my own concoctions) here. West-Coasters are seriously missing out on PA Dutch treats, so come, read, bake, and share your thoughts (and your own home recipes).
Enjoy!

Mmmm, sounds yummy already! I can’t wait to see what delicious recipes you’re whipping up in your kitchen. It sounds like this blog will be a deliciously satisfying read, WITHOUT the calories! (wawp wawp)
I wonder what genius co-worker endowed you with that splendiferous nickname…
Thanks for visiting Katrinasaurus Rex! First up: one of your faves–whoopie pies!
so.. I tried to bake a cheesecake last nite… until I got to the part of the recipe that says: beat 4 egg into..
And I’m thinking: beat an egg.. HTF do you do this? Had to google to figure out I’m missing an egg beater…
Baking FAIL!
ha! dude, baking FAILs are my life. the only way you can WIN in baking is to fail quite often before you learn. but yeah, an egg beater certainly helps. or you could beat the eggs together with a fork in a separate bowl–that way you know all the goopy-ness is combined before dumping it into your future cake mix. how was your cheesecake?
Hey G-ma… this blog is off to a delicious start… I like the focus on sweets… who wants to spend wasted effort on preparing forms of mammal meat. Keep that sweet talk coming…..
SinoSoul… baking FAILs are a right of passage… I have had several items go from oven to trash can without even a taste test….and my family thanked me for it! My favorite recipe comment is ” mix until it looks right…. or bake until it looks right. ”
Bon appetite
